What starts innocently enough, takes twisted turn after twisted turn in a journey that had me enthralled after a steady opening.
This film certainly left an impression. Elijah Wood perfectly cast and Michael Smiley, one of my favourite actor's (The Lobster) almost unrecognisable and with some of the most hilarious dialogue I've ever heard.
This will create conversation for sure and I hope Timpson enjoys the success this film deserves. Just a shame it wasn't shot on these shores.

S lehce mysteriózním nádechem sledujeme osud Norvala (Elijah Wood), který 30 let svého otce neviděl a přijíždí za ním proto, že mu poslal list s prosbou. Norval netuší, proč ho otec pozval, ale brzy zjistí, že vše se má zcela jinak. První třetina je taková ukecaná, i když Gordon (Stephen McHattie) nemá chybu a je škoda, že nedostal větší prostor. Ten chlap nehraje, on svojí postavou prostě žije. Z násilných akcí je asi nejlepší scéna s vidličkou zakončená potravinovou fólií, bodák na účtenky jako zbraň je rovněž fajn. Nejnapínavější mi přišlo plížení pokojem, kde oddechovala čtveřice po sexu. Že jde o komedii, jsem ani nevnímal, pár scének bylo spíše jen úsměvných. Od Aphex Twin jsem očekával místo Avril 14th divokou Come To Daddy.... Místy napínavé, jako celek mě to ale nijak zvlášť nechytlo. Brzy je jasné, že s otcem něco není v pořádku a přichází docela solidní napětí. Po dějovém zvratu v polovině filmu se to však začne ubírat směrem téměř nějaké dobrodružné pirátské historky, tajemnou atmosféru to docela ztratí, ale zato to aspoň dobruslí do stylově přemrštěného finále. Jednohubka, v níž se zejména Stephen McHattie a Michael Smiley pěkně vyřádili, o to víc bych jim dopřál ještě víc času na plátně, než měli. [Sitges 2019] (16. 2019) Filmmaniak Z počátku hutné drama o shledání otce a syna po zhruba třiceti letech, stojící na premise, že z onoho otce se za ta léta stal nenávistný opilecký magor, z jehož srubu v divočině není moc kam utéct, se po zásadním zvratu asi v polovině příběhu přehoupne do jiného žánru, který s předchozím děním prakticky nesouvisí a navíc je poněkud bizarně rozkročen mezi napínavým thrillerem a ujetou černou komedií. Na papíře to mohlo vypadat zajímavě a zábavně, realizováno je to však neuspokojivě – nohy tomu podráží řada režijních i scenáristických přehmatů a zoufale necharismatický hlavní hrdina. Krom temné úvodní atmosféry + ubodaný vajíčka (poster), mě to ničím nezaujalo a finále bylo nemastné, neslané a celkově je Come to Daddy filmem o ničem. Bohužel. Celou dobu to bylo spíš na tři hvězdy ale jakmile došlo na pobodání posraným perem (doslova) tak jsem věděl že musim aspon jednu přidat. Frodo toho debílka hraje suprově, ale žádná z postav v tomhle filmu nezaostává. Scénář sice v té druhé polovině nedrží úplně pohromadě a chybí mu jeden záporák k tomu, aby poškrábal vaše OCD, ale vyzvratovaný je výborně, akční scény jsou super a krev stříká extenzivně a frekventovaně. Elijah Wood si může na seznam připsat roli dalšího podivína a Martin Donovan nutně potřebuje vlastní Taken. Produkování Turbo Kida a Houseboundu Timpsona očividně poznamenalo tím nejlepším způsobem. Bezva věc. (9. 2020) Trevor Norval Greenwood dostane list od svojho otca, v ktorom ho pozve k sebe na návštevu. Pre Norvala je stretnutie veľkou výzvou, pretože otec ich s mamou opustil keď mal 5 rokov a tak je zvedavý, prečo sa po 30 rokoch rozhodol nadviazať s ním ľmi solídny úvod v ktorom človek nevie čo môže čakať a tento pocit pretrváva viac ako polovicu filmu, na môj vkus bola jeho druhá polovica trochu unáhlená, nedomyslená a trápna a keď na scénu nastúpila feministická kreatúra v podobe prostitútky, aby ukázala všetkým divákom ženskú silu film som už ozaj vnímal iba okrajovo, pretože tieto momenty sú naozaj už trápne. A Elijah Wood tiež už zažil lepšie obdobia pred kamerou. (18. 2020) Mamlas Prvních 50 minut můžete přeskočit. Potrat, který vypadá jako ještě debil než obvykle, si tam vykládá se starým mužem. Normálne by som ich dal pozatvárať, takto zničiť tak fantastický rozbehnutý ani nie horor, ale mysteriózny film, tak to sa len tak nevidí. Po tých 40tich minútach sa to mení na obyčajný dej kde sa patria kamošov rozkmotrila, sem tam nejaká tá brutalita s nožom do rozkroku, či potravinárskou foliou okolo hlavy atď. Za mňa 4/10 žiaľ tak ako to začalo a ako to skončilo veľké sklamanie. But McHattie’s bawdy, inebriated character quickly makes it clear that a tender reunion is not in the cards: As the pair settle into the living room, he intimidates Norval by poking holes in his claims of being a successful deejay back home, and later threatens violence against the poor guy in a drunken rage. Norval, whose troubled family history has led to his own history of substance abuse, can barely process this reality check before circumstances take an even more dire turn, and he’s suddenly left alone in the sprawling abode to contemplate his emotional turmoil against the dramatic ocean backdrop. But…not for long. It would ruin the ride to reveal too much about the complications that suddenly put Norval in danger and lead to new revelations about his past, but Timpson manages to pad out the running time with a menacing slow-build. After he hears strange sounds at night, Norval begins to suspect he’s being haunted by his personal demons, but the reality is at once more shocking and ludicrous. As it shifts gears into a fast-paced tale of dumb criminals and ruthless scheming, “Come to Daddy” loses some of the awe-inspiring intrigue of its first half. But when Norval suddenly faces a range of cartoonish threats, from knives to fecal-encrusted pens, the movie settles into a different kind of escapism. With shades of early Peter Jackson and “Evil Dead II, ” the mayhem builds to a relentless pileup of chaotic circumstances, most of which unfold within the claustrophobic confines of a single interior set. It’s there that two-bit criminals played by Michael Smiley and the great Martin Donovan become central to Norval’s survival, as he contends with the risking stakes of a situation he never signed up for. But in a strange way, the gruesome events become an ideal metaphor for the often messy process of confronting family bonds that burst apart long ago. Once the full scope of that drama has been revealed, “Come to Daddy” struggles to maintain its zany energy through the final act, and a concluding hotel room showdown unfolds like a quirky, half-hearted sketch comedy in the shadow of the more alluring weirdness leading up to it. Even so, it’s punctuated by a violent act so cartoonish and bizarre it brings the story back to its strengths. Meanwhile, Wood’s frozen look of astonishment at every new twist epitomizes the outrageous, winding pathway of the movie’s plot. As Norval stumbles into a climactic encounter, “Come to Daddy” arrives at the attempted reconciliation the character has pursued from the start, while it doesn’t happen the way he’d envisioned it, the movie finds its way to a bizarre form of closure that illustrate Timpson’s confidence in this strange genre brew. By the end, it all suddenly clicks: The finale conjures a series of poignant images to convey the idea that cruel people still have the potential for empathy, and family bonds can transcend even the bloodiest of circumstances. It's difficult to break it down. There's a pretty weak story with a couple of predictable twists and not a lot happens really. However, it'd an intriguing watch. I found myself drawn in by the characters and their interaction's, it seems that every character besides Gladys is written as if they are in a cartoon. This generated a meted bag of funny and lackluster moments but it kept me watching.

I think a good comparison to this films makeup would be "In Bruges" the comedy is a little odd-ball and the characters are strangle compelling, this movie is just not quite as good.
A big part of me thinks that this movie will age better than this initial viewing, so I look forward to watching it again somewhere down the line.

"Come to Daddy" is the directorial debut of celebrated producer Ant Timpson (Turbo Kid, Deathgasm. The initial idea came from Timpson and then was masterfully written by Toby Harvard (The Greasy Strangler. I'm obsessed with the dialogue in the film. Part of the beauty of "Come to Daddy" is that it eases effortlessly between genres. It is intensely macabre, cartoonishly gory, but it's also insanely hilarious and sweetly emotional and tender. "Come to Daddy" is about a man in his thirties named Norval (Elijah Wood) who goes to see his long-lost father Gordon (Stephen McHattie) in his remote home. That's really all you should know about the plot. Within the beautiful insanity & mania of "Come to Daddy, the core of this screwed up dynamic between Norval and Gordon is actually very relatable and authentic. I cannot imagine anyone but Elijah Wood playing Norval. There is something in his gaze that perfectly captures the nuances of the character, and Stephen McHattie is just so good as his father, Gordon. Michael Smiley appears in the film almost unrecognizable and is just incredible.
I am so tempted to write specifics on scenes and lines and why they resonate so much, but this film is way too magical to spoil. There's so much mediocrity in film, music, when you see the horror/family-drama/black comedy film of your dreams, it's special. Thank you, Ant and Toby, for expanding the ranges of horror. "Come to Daddy" is genius and I genuinely hope both of them keep on creating for years and years and years on end.

In addition to which, good quality food and supplies are expensive. This is a labor of love, not one of making money. Then, of course, come the vet bills... I don't know of any breeder who makes money with birds. You do it because you love it and you understand the work and cost associated with your hobby.   Breeding Mutations: To be able to potentially influence the genetic characteristics of the young (i. e., mutation colors), a basic understanding of genetics is necessary. Peach-face Lovebird Genetics - as simplistic as possible Images of mutation peach-faced lovebirds     Sexing Your Lovebirds Lovebirds are not sexually dimorphic, which means that you cannot visually tell if a lovebird is a male or a female. However, there are some subtle differences between males and females, but they are only SLIGHT differences and do not constitute a definite method of sexing lovebirds. Hens are usually a little larger than male lovebirds, although her head may be slightly smaller. Hens often have wider pelvises (as they have to pass eggs) and are usually a little broader than males and often perch with their legs a little further apart than cocks. Experienced breeders can quite often sex lovebirds by feeling their pelvic bones (under the tail). The male pelvic bones are closer together, feel pointier, less "flexible" than female pelvic bones. With some birds you can feel a distinct difference, others are "iffy" to say the best. Quite similarly to us humans, where some females are more "rounded" than others. It is not a definite method, but breeders are using it regularly -- understanding full well that it is not a sure method of sexing. Don't Trust Natural Pairings: Lovebirds don't always pair up male and female, but sometimes pair up with a same-sex lovebird. Breeders will find out about such pairing when both birds start laying eggs (10 or more eggs in a nesting box), or no eggs are laid at all. Of course, eggs laid by two paired females will be infertile. DNA Sexing: If you want to make sure that the lovebirds are the correct sex, you could use a DNA service to test it. There are feather and blood DNA sexing services available. You send in samples and get the results in days -- at a much lower cost than having your local vet do it. Nesting Behavior: One of the characteristics of an adult female lovebird is that they will tuck nesting material under their wings (please refer to image below) and carry it into their nest box. Males, or young females, will also try to do it, but usually the nesting material falls out very quickly. I have heard of the odd male who has mastered the art of "tucking and carrying" -- but I have never witnessed one myself. I have only seen adult females who were able to do that. It is a pretty good way of sexing a lovebird -- with accuracy maybe up to 80%. Male Feeding Female: Males will be more likely to regurgitating for its owners or mates, as the males typically feed the nesting females.   Housing your Breeder Lovebirds My recommendation is to start small when it comes to your breeding stock. Start with one pair and expand if you like at a later stage. Lovebirds will generally breed well when kept as single pairs. Some lovebird species can be bred in a colony setting. The white eye-ring group of lovebirds are particularly well suited to colony breeding. This being said, the peach-faces are equally easy to breed in an aviary / communal setting - particularly if there was plenty of room for all. The major drawback of communal breeding is the fact that one has less control over the pairings. But if the caretaker isn't too involved in the genetics, that probably won't matter to many. If indoor / cage breeding is preferred, get a good-size breeding cage - a cage that is large enough for you to put the nesting box in. The cage / aviary should be large enough for natural branches, toys -- I love creative, fun homes for my birds. They spend their lives (or most of their days in their cages) -- make it a fun environment. SPACE IS IMPORTANT. The lovebirds at the very least should be able to "beat their wings" without hitting something every time. They need to be able to climb and play for exercise. I have heard the theory that supplying toys and the like will distract birds from mating or parenting. This is not so. The happier a bird, the better a parent it will be. Besides, we are not talking about automatic "breeding machines" -- birds are living beings. They deserve better than being exploited without consideration of their happiness and welfare. Alternatively, if your preference is a larger aviary, please visit this website for samples of very attractive and functional outside and inside aviaries, including instructions for you to build them yourself -- if you are handy enough. It also has links to suppliers and ready-built aviaries / flights, if this is your preference. Lovebirds are usually pretty social birds and many breeders keep a colony of lovebirds in one aviary. Because of their gorgeous colors, they make very attractive aviary occupants. However, they can be pretty noisy -- this is something to be considered if your neighbors are close and "noise-sensitive. "   Nesting Lovebirds reach sexual maturity around one years of age. Many can be sexually mature earlier - but it is not wise to breed them younger than a year. Setting up the Nest Box: I have always used a cockatiel nesting box; although at times they have settled down in a parakeet nesting box. But I always preferred to use the cockatiel box since smaller boxes would get messy quickly, and as the chicks grow, parakeet boxes get VERY crowded. I provided my lovebirds palmfonds, tree twigs/branches, dried grass, leaves, spray millet, eucalyptus (refer to " safe woods - some caution advised), shredded / unscented / white paper towels, and even newspaper to tear up and carry into their nesting box. Decomposed non-toxic saw dust, wood shavings or other suitable materials are great to line the box with, to soak up any droppings. Nesting log / nest-box material: Add about 2 inches of decomposed suitable nest box litter to the bottom of the box to help stabilize the eggs and absorb the droppings from the chicks. Options for suitable nesting material are decomposed non-toxic saw dust, corn cob, shredded newspaper, clean straw / dried grass or wood shavings (i. e., Aspen shavings or wood chips). The larger wood chips the better, so the parents don't feed it to the babies or the chicks accidentally ingest it. Please note that some wood shavings - such as pine, cedar and redwood - give off aromatic hydrocarbons (phenols) and acids that are toxic and can cause dermatitis, allergic symptoms and irritation of the digestive tract. They should not be used in cages, aviaries, or nestboxes. Do make sure not to give any poisonous or chemically treated (insecticides / fertilizer) plant material to your birds. This website will provide you information on toxic and safe plant material for your birds. For non-toxic insect and weed control, please visit the Green and Healthy website. If space allows, offering a choice of nest boxes, and placed in various locations within the aviary, can allow the parent birds to make their own choice.  Once a pair has chosen a specific nest-box and been successful in it, offer that one to them each breeding season.  Try and keep that one for their exclusive use.  Once a pair has chosen its nest-box, the other ones can generally be removed.  If the "spare" boxes are to be removed and moved to another flight, ensure the nest-box is cleaned to ensure the receptacle has the minimal contamination of mites, parasites and pathogens.     Lovebird Mating and Parenting Courtship begins when the male feeds the female; then mating will happen which may be lengthy and repeated several times a day for several days. The male climbs onto the females back, often holding on to her flight feathers for a good grip. Eggs can be laid as early as 3 to 10 days after mating, then one or more every other day. Typically the clutch contains 4 to 6 eggs. The incubation time is approximately 22 - 25 days and it can take up to 24 hours for a chick to work itself out of the egg. It's best not to interfere with the process, except when you found that the youngest chicks tend to get neglected by the parents. For appropriate advice, please visit this webpage. The egg sac contains needed nutrients for the chick to absorb. I was over-eager in the beginning and pulled the chick from the egg -- causing it to die. A common mistake that inexperienced breeders make. Nowadays I would only observe and assist only if I notice that the baby is in trouble. When a hen is brooding, she may not come out of the nest box very often. The male will go into the nest box and feed her. Once the babies have hatched, the female and female will feed them. I liked to provide mashed hard-boiled eggs to my parent birds to help them feed the chicks. They really LOVED it -- and it had the protein and calcium they needed for the chicks. On a couple of rare occasions, I had a compatible pair lay 8 eggs -- and they all hatched, which is an achievement. I had to constantly provide them with fresh nestling food to feed their big family. The average incubation is 24 days, varying from 22 to 25 days. Both hen and cock share in incubating the eggs. Nest inspection is generally not tolerated.  If nest inspection is necessary, wait till both parents have left the nest.  They tend to be very aggressive and protective of the nest area when breeding. Pulling / Socializing the Chicks: I pulled the babies from the nesting boxes once they were one or two weeks old, as I enjoyed handfeeding them. I found it difficult to tame them once they were kept with their parents for four weeks or longer without daily interaction with humans. If you want to handtame them -- I would recommend to start socializing them at one week or two, but not much later than that. Some breeders told me that they were very successful at taming babies by taking them out of the nestbox on a daily basis and socializing them, and then putting them back with their parents after they were handled for 30 minutes or so. This way, they didn't need to handfeed them -- yet the chicks became tame. Lovebird babies wean at approximately 8 weeks of age, with some earlier and some later. You simply must see this great Mexican gangster story with an attractive, compelling cast that kept me in my seat throughout this action movie on Friday Dec 6. Dopo che al gruppo si è unito il droide D-O e aver incontrato e ricevuto aiuto da Lando Calrissian, il dispositivo viene alla fine rinvenuto da Rey a bordo dei rottami della distrutta seconda Morte Nera. Ma Kylo Ren, sopraggiunto nel frattempo, se ne impossessa e lo distrugge. Rey combatte con la spada laser contro Kylo Ren, che le rivela la verità sulle proprie origini e da dove trae la propria Forza: Rey è la nipote di Palpatine, abbandonata all'età di 6 anni su Jakku dai suoi genitori che sono stati uccisi per averla protetta. Durante il duello tra i due, Leia chiama il figlio per farlo tornare al lato chiaro, morendo subito dopo, e in quel momento Rey ferisce Kylo trafiggendolo con la spada, per poi guarirlo subito dopo. Ciò spinge Ben a riflettere, in un dialogo con il padre defunto (un ricordo nella sua mente), finendo per gettare la sua spada laser in mare. Rey sottrae il caccia TIE di Kylo Ren e si reca sul pianeta Ahch-To, dove distrugge il mezzo e dove intende isolarsi per non portare a compimento la profezia del nonno, che la vorrebbe regnare sul nuovo Impero Galattico insieme a Kylo Ren. Qui però il fantasma di Forza di Luke Skywalker la guida e la convince a recarsi su Exegol per combattere Palpatine. Usando il vecchio X-wing di Luke, Rey invia le coordinate del pianeta anche alla Resistenza. Tutta la flotta della Resistenza raggiunge Exegol, avendo escogitato un piano per distruggere gli incrociatori stellari. Qui Palpatine cerca di convincere la nipote a diventare un Sith per farne l'Imperatrice del nuovo Impero, ma solo dopo che lei lo avrà ucciso. Ben Solo, ritornato al lato chiaro della Forza e arrivato anch'egli sul pianeta, prima sconfigge i suoi ex compagni d'armi, i Cavalieri di Ren, e poi si unisce a Rey per combattere l'Imperatore, che, però, riesce a sopraffare i due e a prelevarne l'energia vitale, con cui si rigenera e, usando i suoi poteri, attacca le astronavi della Resistenza, che stanno combattendo contro la flotta di Palpatine. Rey, accasciata a terra ma viva, si concentra per percepire le voci di tutti i precedenti Jedi esistiti. Ci riesce e costoro si uniscono a lei attraverso il potere della Forza, permettendole di contrastare l'attacco dell'Imperatore. Unendo le spade laser degli Skywalker per farsi da scudo, rigira contro il nonno i suoi stessi fulmini, distruggendolo definitivamente. A causa dell'immane sforzo Rey muore, ma Ben, arrampicatosi dal burrone dove era stato sbalzato dall'Imperatore, riesce a salvarla cedendole la propria forza vitale. Felice che Ben sia tornato al lato chiaro della Forza, Rey lo bacia, ma poco dopo lui muore e scompare nella Forza, assieme al cadavere della madre che si trova nella base della Resistenza. Successivamente, dopo aver festeggiato la vittoria della Resistenza, Rey si reca su Tatooine nella vecchia casa degli Skywalker. Lì seppellisce le spade laser appartenute alla famiglia Skywalker, per poi accendere temporaneamente la sua nuova spada dal colore giallo, e, dopo aver visto i fantasmi di Forza di Luke e Leia e aver ottenuto la loro approvazione, decide di assumere il cognome di "Skywalker". Abrams è tornato per dirigere L'ascesa di Skywalker Nell'ottobre 2012, George Lucas, il creatore di Guerre stellari, aveva venduto la sua casa di produzione, la Lucasfilm, e con essa l'intero franchise di Guerre stellari, alla The Walt Disney Company. Disney annunciò poi la realizzazione di una nuova trilogia sequel per la saga cinematografica di Guerre stellari. " by Black Crowes producer George Drakoulias – and featuring a guest appearance on keyboards from Jon Lord of Deep Purple, [10] the album was split between songwriters Gardener and Bell, with the former's songs making up the first half of the album and the latter's the second. [11] Not only did the album's sound eschew the band's earlier influences in favour of inspiration from classic rock, but the band's approach to songwriting also changed: whereas earlier material had mostly been developed by the band in jam sessions as a group, for Carnival of Light Bell and Gardener would arrive in the studio with their songs more or less fully formed. Gardener and Bell had led the band away from their shoegazing roots to become more contemporary, hoping to change their style with the times. Queralt has remarked that the band had two future directions open to them, and they chose the wrong option. Gardener had become interested in dance music, and wanted Ride to incorporate that into their style, while Bell disagreed. [9] The track listing of Carnival of Light gives an indication of the tension that was mounting between the two guitarists, with the first half of the album being songs written by Mark Gardener and the last half of the album being songs written by Andy Bell - Andy Bell had refused to let his songs be interspersed with pieces written by Gardener. Years later Andy Bell explained "Imagine an argument where the way you win, is by saying 'I don't want my songs on the same side of the album as yours' and it ACTUALLY HAPPENS. We were allowed by the people around us to behave like total babies. " By the time Tarantula appeared, the band was beginning to self-destruct. It is sometimes hard to pinpoint where exactly films fail, the cinematography wasn't bad and you can definitely see that Kristen Stewart tried, but everything else about this film was below mediocre. Characters were one dimensional and lacked any depth, plot development, from the very moment the two main characters meet and then meet again, was abrupt and unbelievable. The other main characters - the good FBI agent vs. the bad one, were just as shallow. Not to mention the wives, whose role never went anywhere and might have as well not been in this film at all.
In the end, it simply wasn't interesting to watch and that is something no amount of blank long gazes and gratuitous nudity can fix.
If you haven't yet, do yourself a favor and watch 'The Lives of Others' a 2006 German film that shares a similar theme but actually does it justice.

This movie was trying to prostrate as it was positively event when the real story was nothing what that movie was made out to be. There is a lot of stories in this movie that needs to addressing to. I'll leave a few examples in here:
First of off, this lady was never had a romance with this Civil Rights activist.
Secondly, the FBI was not harassing her all because of hers political, nor because of hers involvement with Civil Rights, except it was because of her being involvement with a racist black group that was attempting to rob a several business and motivate to kill the enforcement.
Lastly, this lady was arrested for treason, publicity destruction, hatred, and harassing the soldiers whose return from Vietnam.
This movie needs to re-fix with fact-checking, instead of doing it to supports the propaganda.
I'll give it a 10 star once they fix it, but I know they won't.
